GRAVEL RIDE 1

Description

ONE GRAVEL BEYOND โ€“ GRAVEL RIDE N.1

A loop of just over 26 kilometers and 600 meters of elevation gain that embraces the most authentic face of the Berici Hills. It's a gravel route that alternates dirt roads, compact dirt tracks, sudden ramps, and open views of the Vicenza plain, with an elevation profile that doesn't allow for long moments of distraction. Here, you're always pedaling in tune with the terrain.

The start is gentle but already undulating, with flowing sections and initial climbs that warm up the legs. Then the route gets into full swing: the gravel takes over, the landscape becomes hilly, the curves tighten, and the gradients change pace. It climbs and descends seamlessly, through woods, clearings, and glimpses of the city fading away.

The heart of the route is a constant dialogue between nature and effort: short but intense climbs, windy slopes, and technical descents that require careful riding. The terrain varies frequently, making the ride dynamic and never monotonous. It's a route that rewards those who know how to balance their energy and gear, and delivers authentic thrills with every change in gradient.

WARNING!!! After Via Breganzola, turning right, there is a steep descent with sections of portage downhill!

The climbs of the itinerary

๐Ÿ”ด N.1 Gravel MONTE BERICO PORTICI (Red Category)

It's a grand opening. An iconic climb, combining history and effort: the gravel surface tests traction while the gradient is felt from the first few meters. It's a smooth but demanding climb, to be tackled at a steady pace. At the top, the view makes every extra heartbeat worthwhile.

๐ŸŸข N.2 Gravel COLONIA BEDIN (Green Category)

More rideable but not banal. Here the route winds through wooded sections and panoramic views. The gradients are gentler than on the Rossa, but the uneven surface requires concentration. A climb that invites you to find fluidity and breathe in the landscape.

๐Ÿ”ต N.3 Gravel MANTOVANI (Blue Category)

Technical and taut, it alternates short ramps with recovery sections. It's a "jerky" climb, where the rhythm breaks and recomposes itself. Ideal for those who love dynamic gravel riding, the kind that forces you to rev up the pace and play with the gears.

โšซ N.4 Gravel VALLE DEI VICARI (Black Category)

The most challenging of the loop. A climb that will dig into your legs, with steep gradients and a surface that can become challenging. The ascent passes through a wild and silent landscape, where only the sound of the wheels on the gravel is heard. It's the key moment of the route: this is where the difference is made.

Gravel Ride N.1 It's a complete itinerary: technical yet accessible, intense yet never extreme, combining training and discovery. A trail that reveals the territory meter after meter, and leaves you with that pleasant feeling of exhaustion that only gravel can provide.

The Gravel Badges

Badge I - Romeo and Juliet Castles

They symbolize the entire new north-western territory of Berici Climbs, the offshoots of the Castellari Mountains, spectacular places of transition between the Berico plateau and the pre-Alpine slopes.

The very difficult Strada dei Carri (Wagon Road) that leads to the castles in the municipality of Montecchio Maggiore is representative of this part of the park.

Badge II - Sanctuary of Monte Berico

A symbolic site for the entire park, of great and rare beauty, beloved by the Giro d'Italia with two stage finishes in ten years. It also hosts two gravel climbs, including the wonderful and pleasant Colonia Bedin.

Badge III-Villabalzana

It represents a bastion, a port of arrival for many climbs in the northern area. A wonderful place surrounded by greenery with breathtaking views of Lake Fimon and the entire pre-Alpine chain.

Badge IV - Grancona

A symbolic place of the southern block, its large square, the church that looks more like an ancient castle and the panoramic terrace overlooking the Val Liona make Grancona a sought-after and desired destination.

Badge V - Hermitage of Dan Donato

It is a magical place, full of spirituality, where the rock of the hills merges with the human action to draw a perfect frame, a painting from which you can admire the skyline of the Euganean Hills and recover the seconds of time passed, here you can perceive the true essence of Berici Climbs, memento vivere.

VI- Gravel Super Hero Badge

The badge that certifies that you are the real heroes! Climbing 50 gravel climbs is a great feat that deserves to be celebrated, because the effort is hard, but even more so is managing to complete a complex journey in an often complicated and crowded life. This is an achievement of resilience and passion, it's your achievement! Hold on to it!
